FINANCE: Over performance at Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital Foundation Trust is the biggest risk to finances of its primary care trust cluster.

According to the handover document produced by the NHS Bournemouth and Poole, NHS Dorset cluster, over performance “represents the biggest single risk for 2011-12 but also going forward for 2012-13 and beyond”.

The trust is currently over performing at £2.86m year to date with elective admissions making up the biggest proportion of over spend.

The document said: “This level of over-performance is currently being reviewed in terms of referrals by localities, and within secondary care. The information team is undertaking a further review of any new coding and counting changes that have been reported in 2011-12.

It added: “A recovery team has been established and is in the process working through options to tackle this problem that builds upon the work of previous years.”
