FINANCE: Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust has reported that demand for emergency care is “very high”, putting pressure on commissioners’ budgets.

The foundation trust board heard Bradford and Airedale Teaching Primary Care Trust had intentified “unresolved risk” around spending on acute services. The foundation’s chairman has assured the PCT it “would make every effort to help but demand for emergency care was very high and there was nowhere else for these patients to go”. In November the PCT forecast it would meet its demand total but identified “demand pressures on healthcare contracts with our main providers”.
