COMMERCIAL: NHS Bristol may not put all secondary mental health services in Bristol out to tender following concerns from the public and NHS South of England.
A report to Bristol CIty Council’s health overview and scrutiny committee said the concerns centred around whether reprocurement of all mental health services was the best way to ensure improved outcomes and culture. The services are currently provided by Avon and Wiltshire Partnership Trust and are worth about a third of the trust’s income.
A panel of GPs, service users, commisioners and an independent mental health expert has been set up and will recommend which services NHS Bristol should put out to tender on a service by service basis. A report is due to go to the primary care trust’s board meeting later this month.
