PERFORMANCE: Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust missed its target for C difficile infections in each month of 2011-12 to February.

Board papers for March reveal that the trust reported 59 cases in first 11 months of the year, against a full-year target of 45.

There were 40 cases in the first half of the year alone. Although the rate has slowed since then, the trust has still been in breach of target in every month.

The papers say: “It should be noted that the trust target trajectory represents a 25 per cent improvement on the previous year’s outturn figures.

“Stringent trust-wide measures and, where necessary, detailed individual action plans have been put in place to minimise further incidents.”
