FINANCE: Oxfordshire primary care trust is on track to meet its surplus target of £2.2m, despite overspending on its major acute contract and deteriorations in other areas of commissioning.
In the year to month nine, the PCT reported a £1.75m surplus, better than planned.
However, board papers say: “Cost improvement plan programme is reflecting a year to date deficit of £1.4m and anticipates it will not achieve its planned savings by £2m at year end.”
The PCT over-spent by £3.6m on the Oxford Radcliffe Trust in month nine - £100,000 better than the previous month.
There was also a £1.8m overspend reported on the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Trust.
“The year to date position has deteriorated significantly in month and is now showing an over spend of £388,000 at month nine”, against a £29,000 planned underspend, is mainly due to over performance in neurosurgery critical care and paediatric surgery.
