STRUCTURE: An NHS commissioning support service has advertised for a managing director “with commercial experience” and the “necessary commercial acumen to effectively grow the business”.

The job advertisement has been placed by the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Gloucestershire and Swindon primary care trust clusters, and confirms that the clusters are partnering to form a single CSS.

The position, believed to be the first of its type advertised, commands a salary of between £120,000 and £140,000.

The advert reads: “We are seeking an exceptional leader with commercial experience who can harness the necessary expertise to develop and deliver a viable and sustainable CSS organisation.

“You will have the vision and drive to meet the considerable challenges in establishing a successful, customer focused, organisation in a time of great change in the NHS.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the skills and experience to establish a clear organisational entity and will have the necessary commercial acumen to effectively grow the business in an evolving market.”

The position is advertised as permanent. Initially the post will be employed by the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire cluster.

“In due course the post maybe subject to national accreditation and formal organisational change in line with the development of the new NHS architecture,” the advert says.
