PERFORMANCE: Both Cambridge University Hospitals Foundation Trust and Hinchingbrooke Healthcare Trust fell below the 95 per cent standard for four hour waits in A&E in January.

A report to NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough said the failure at CUHFT - which was at 92.9 per cent - was in part due to major work in the unit.

Its fourth quarter performance ‘cannot be recovered’ according to the report although it will meet the target for the year as a whole.

In contrast, Peterborough and Stamford Foundation Trust was just above the 95 per cent standard in January but its year-to-date performance is 94.2 per cent.

The PCT is now funding a daytime GP to deal with minor cases attending the A&E department.
