PERFORMANCE: The north central London mental health provider Camden and Islington Foundation Trust has “savings requirements” of £6.6m in 2012-13 and 2013-14, according to a document it submitted to the foundation trust regulator.

The annual plan review said: “To address this savings requirement, the trust has two main strategic programmes: One,.the systematic and managed reduction in inpatients beds including the reduction of inpatient sites used, and two,.the redesign of care pathways in relation to community treatment and teams.

“The reduction in inpatient beds successfully occurred during 2011-12, and the next stage, the associated skill mix changes, is underway and will be completed in early 2012-13. This follows the trust‟s strategic direction of treating our patients much closer to their homes, rather than in a ward setting.”
