COMMERCIAL: Care UK has won a five year contract to provide healthcare at Wormwood Scrubs prison in west London.
The firm will provide primary care, dentistry, optometry, physiotherapy and podiatry services.
Mental health services will be subcontracted to Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust.
The contract was previously held by Central London Community Healthcare Trust with mental health services subcontracted to Central and North West London Foundation Trust.
The work was worth £8.5m to CLCH in 2015-16, a spokeswoman confirmed.
She added; ”CLCH is disappointed to have lost the offender healthcare contract but will be working closely with the commissioner and new provider to ensure a safe transfer. The service currently has 101 roles supplied by CLCH providing a complete service across primary care, mental health and substance misuse.
“To set the financial element for CLCH as a whole in context it should be seen alongside us winning community health contracts in Merton and Harrow to a total value of £30m per year starting from 2016-17.”
The new Wormwood Scrubs contract begins in April and was awarded by NHS England in December.
It will be worth £112m if a two year option to extend the five-year contract is agreed.
