STRUCTURE: A consultation on a planned redesign of learning disability services across Cheshire and the Wirral has uncovered some concerns about closure of beds.

The board of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Foundation Trust will consider a full report on the public consultation in June.

But an interim report said that Wirral CCG had asked for further discussion on the proposed closure of Kent House, an assessment and treatment centre, which would reduce the number of beds available across the district from 25 to 17.

There was, however, broad agreement from the members of the public who responded that reducing inpatients beds and enhancing community services was the right direction of travel, as long as any changes improved the safety and effectiveness of services.
