PERFORMANCE: Against a regional picture of dramatically increasing GP referrals this year, the east London primary care trust has seen a reduction of 2.3 per cent.

Documents submitted to NHS London’s Performance Professional Leadership Group showed that in month seven, October, the capital was over plan for GP referrals by 23 per cent, with 1.17m against a target of 952,000.

But the figures showed City & Hackney as one of just five PCTs in the capital to have seen a reduction.

The Monthly Activity Returns (MAR) data showed Harrow, Enfield, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham PCTs were the other four. They reported reductions of 4.4 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 3.72 per cent, respectively.
