FINANCE: NHS City & Hackney overspent by 6.3 per cent in month seven with its main hospital providers, a finance report said.
# Editing note: This article was amended at 15.35 on 17/02/11 to make clear the overspend was on acute overspends not the PCT’s overall budget.
The PCT had an overspend of £7.46m and said the “main pressure areas” were at the Homerton, Barts and the London, UCLH, The Royal Free and Whittington Hospital trusts.
Board papers said the PCT’s sector finance director had agreed “risk share” arrangements with Barts and the London Hospitals Trust and Newham University Hospital Trust and was negotiating a similar agreement with Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust.
The PCT was still predicting an overall surplus of £1.5m at month nine.
