PERFORMANCE: A finance related performance indicator has helped Colchester Hospital University FT improve the number of referrals it sends to smoking cesseation services, according to board papers.

The trust’s latest finance and commissioning committee report refers to a commissioning for quality and innovation (CQUIN) indicator for “Referrals to Stop Smoking Service”.

It states: “This CQUIN produced a big improvement in the number of referrals sent in February and March, an average of 537 against the previous three months average of 240.

It adds: “This improvement increased the annual referrals to 2,393 against the annual target of 4,003.”
