Having both the big NHS regulators without permanent chairs can’t be an ideal situation as a general election approaches, but every problem presents opportunities.
The Appointments Commission has been one of the first to find one. Charged with finding candidates for two less than appealing posts at the same time, it was able to fit both into one newspaper advert, presumably saving a bit of cash.
It must have softened the blow of having to readvertise the Monitor job after no appointment was made last time. Desired qualities include being “able to demonstrate that they can work together”.
