COMMERCIAL: NHS Brent is commissioning new outpatient services in 11 service lines.
A memorandum of information published by the north west London commissioning body saud the PCT would look to have a “competitive dialogue” for: paediatrics, gastroenterology, rheumatology, clinical haematology, trauma and orthopaedics, gynaecology, dermatology, general surgery, ear, nose and throat, medical oncology and urology.
The PCT said: “The authority is seeking to commission services to replace all services that are currently provided in secondary outpatient settings within the specialties listed above.
“The procurement seeks to encourage the development of new, patient-centred models of care, preferably closer to patients’ homes.
“Successful bidders will be expected to provide clear improvements to the patient experience, patient safety and clinical outcomes. Amongst other metrics, these benefits will be assessed via patient-reported outcome and experience measures.”
