FINANCE: South Warwickshire clinical commissioning group has admitted that it did not know whether some of its local efficiency schemes were working.
The CCG’s subcommittee minutes for July, published by the Arden primary care trust cluster in September, said: “There are a number of quality, innovation, productivity and prevention programmes that are either not delivering, delayed, or don’t know if we are delivering on.”
Prescribing and medicines management was one area highlighted that commissioners were “not confident that we can delivery”.
The group also resolved to “urgently” look at rising emergency admissions. South Warwickshire Foundation Trust had “overspent significantly”, after seeing more on average five more emergency patients per day than the average a year earlier.
