PERFORMANCE: Matron roles have been put in place in all service areas at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust in the past year.
The trust’s nursing strategy update said each of its five service areas has identified a lead nurse with responsibilities for ensuring robust nurse leadership, professional standards, quality and safety of care.
The document also says matrons have been embedded in all service areas, contributing to improvements in patient safety and care quality.
The trust has also developed a matrons’ dashboard for inpatient services. The report said this was unique in the West Midlands region and had “attracted positive interest and comment nationally”.
The report said: “The matrons’ dashboard has raised the profile of the benefits of quality measures and improved staff awareness and understanding of the processes and their value. Work has commenced on the development of a community dashboard.”
