FINANCE: Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust has reported a £149,000 surplus in the first month of 2011-12, after reporting a rise in staff vacancies.
The former mental health trust, which took on community services from Solihull and Coventry primary care trusts under the transforming community services programme, underspent in mental health services by £23,000, and in community services by £152,000.
The trust’s finance report states that its staff in post total is 410.25 whole time equivalent staff below the “funded establishment”.
In April, vacancies in “former CWPT operational services” have increased by 32 WTE from the position the month before, now accounting for 329 WTE vacancies, the report said.
Meanwhile community staff in post reduced by 28 WTE.
The trust achieved its £612,000 cost improvement target for the month.
