COMMERCIAL: A new provider for primary medical services for groups including the homeless, asylum seekers and refugees is being sought by the primary care trust.
Coventry PCT has tendered for a new provider to deliver the primary medical services based at the Anchor Centre for the homeless and vulnerably housed, and the Meridian practice for asylum Seekers and refugees in the city.
It hopes that a new provider will be able to start work in November. Services at these locations were previously provided by Coventry Community Health Services through the PCT, however under the transforming community services policy all PCTs are required to divest themselves of provider services.
The PCT says that this procurement will ensure NHS Coventry is compliant with these requirements.
