WORKFORCE: The chair of Croydon Health Services is stepping down shortly after the chief executive departed.

Brian Phillpott will step down from his post at the end of April, less than a month after chief executive Nick Hulme announced he was leaving.

Mr Phillpott will be replaced on an interim basis by Michael Parker, a non-executive at NHS London and former chair of King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust.

John Goulston will be interim chief executive.

He is currently NHS London’s director of provider development and the London Programme for IT.

Mr Hulme was the third chief executive to have departed during Mr Philpott’s tenure. After he left a union made the unusual step of criticising the trust for a “football manager” approach to chief executives.
