The second Healthcare Innovation Expo will be an opportunity for cardiologists and radiologists to see what the Aquilion ONE dynamic volume CT scanner is already delivering with its CT cardio-angiogram.

A ground-breaking new capability of the Aquilion ONE will also be featured at the Expo – the ability to study myocardial perfusion allowing a CT cardiac examination to provide similar information to that of an MRI examination.

The new protocol will mean that patients undergoing a CT cardio angiogram with the Aquilion ONE, will be able to undergo myocardial perfusion as part of the same investigation. Such an advance promises to deliver benefits in terms of time and cost-savings as well as better health outcomes.

Visitors to the EXPO will be able to meet the experts from Toshiba to discuss the capabilities of the Aquilion ONE and to learn about how this ground-breaking technology is already being put to highly effective use in a number of PCTs across the UK as well as at London’s European Scanning Centre.

Initial results from recent research, to be announced in full at the EXPO, are expected to show that using the Aquilion ONE early in the pathway for emergency acute chest pain admission, can save a typical hospital in the UK between £300,000 and £1 million a year.

The EXPO, which is the largest public sector health and social care event in Europe, provides an unparalleled opportunity for businesses to interact directly with key health and social care professionals including decision makers as well as those who directly provide patient and community-based care. It is also a vital forum for social care professionals to link up with healthcare experts and explore opportunities for innovative changes in the approach to long-term care and the management of patients with chronic conditions.
