FINANCE: Northumberland Tyne and Wear Foundation Trust plans is to loan £3m from the Department of Health’s independent trust finance facility to cover a shortage of funds for capital projects this year.

Shortfalls have emerged on a project to build a new autism inpatient unit and other inpatient services. The loan has a 25 year term.

Deputy director of finance Dave Rycroft said: “Since the plans were submitted there has been slippage on the capital programme. The slippage has been on both the autism project, which is now about to start, an on inpatient developments which have been delayed due to the ongoing discussions with [commissioners] about the preferred bed model.”
