FINANCE: The North of England strategic health authority cluster has reported that it has been unable to sign off NHS Cumbria’s quality, innovation, productivity and prevention (QIPP) savings plans for 2012-13 due to “significant ongoing risks to delivery”.
Cumbria was the only primary care trust cluster in the north west not to achieve SHA sign-off of its QIPP plan, and one of just three in the north of England. A report to the SHA cluster’s latest board meeting stated that “despite an improved financial position this year, Cumbria cluster remain a risk”.
“This is due,” it added, “to the recently agreed acquisition of North Cumbria [University Hospitals Trust] and the ongoing discussions regarding the PCT Cluster financial support of the process, we are working closely with the system to develop solutions.”
