STRUCTURE: NHS Derby City’s cluster has formally approved a service reconfiguration plan for a walk in centre and an “open access centre”.
The plans were part of NHS Derby City’s review of Derby Open Access Centre (DOAC) and Walk in Centre (WIC).
The Derby cluster board met on 25 May 2011 and approved that:
- The PCT should retain the two centres - The WIC and the DOAC - provided that satisfactory financial contractual arrangements can be reached which make the provision of services out of the two sites affordable;
- That the PCT, or successor commissioning organisations, should work to improve the cost effectiveness of direct access minor illness services, with immediate effect.
