PERFORMANCE: A board paper for North Derbyshire CCG shows that Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust will “significantly” increase bed numbers at Bolsover Hospital because of concerns that the “consistently high bed occupancy during the last 3 months appears to have impacted on the quality of care”.
A paper says: “In addition an in depth review of quality metrics following a serious medication incident has identified quality issues related to care, culture, staff training and skills.
“DCHS have proposed in discussion with NDCCG a recovery plan to deliver an intensive programme of training to staff of all grades and then to gradually increase the number of beds available back to an agreed level.”
It follows a previously agreed plan to reduce bed numbers.
