COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY: NHS Devon is planning to work with neighbouring primary care trusts to re-procure elective services under the “any willing provider” model.

Board papers note provision of some elective care services by independent contractors in the South West currently takes place through the Extended Choice Network, which expires in March 2011.

As a result, services provided under the ECN contract are being re-procured under the any willing provider process.

NHS Devon is collaborating with NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, and NHS Plymouth on the process.

Board papers state: “This shared approach will ensure consistency in the provision of a clinical service specification based on national best practice.

“Completion of the accreditation process and communication of the result will take place by mid February 2011, with contracts awarded for 1 April 2011.”
