PERFORMANCE: Devon Partnership Trust’s foundation trust application has been delayed due to a responsive review by the Care Quality Commission.

The regulator carried out a review of Wonford House Hospital during November and is due to report soon. As a result of the CQC’s concerns the trust’s governance risk rating has been increased to amber-red.

Minutes from October’s board meeting noted “whilst the review was underway there would be an impact of the foundation trust application timetable”.

At November’s meeting chief executive Iain Tulley reported a “revised timetable has been agreed” with the the strategic health authority and it “is anticipated that the trust will undergo a national medical directors review in December 2011 as well as be presented to the Department of Health applications committee.”

According to NHS South West’s handover document the trust is also rated “performance under review” by the Department of Health.
