PERFORMANCE: The board of Dorset County Hospitals FT has expressed concern about levels of delayed discharge.
The chairman was asked to write to NHS Dorset and local social services “expressing concern at the current arrangements, as it was inappropriate to keep patients who could go home in hospital”.
The board papers report: “The majority of the medical outliers have been in hospital for more than 30 days, and yet despite a request of to NHS Dorset to assist in accommodating the patients, no progress had been made to help unblock urgently needed beds.”
The board was also told the director of operations was looking at employing someone on a temporary basis, to literally walk the wards and assist with discharge process and paperwork.
