WORKFORCE: A primary care trust cluster chief executive has been appointed to lead Dorset Healthcare University Foundation Trust.
Currently chief executive of the NHS Bournemouth and Poole and NHS Dorset cluster, Paul Sly will take over at the mental health and community services provider from March next year.
Mr Sly said: “I am very excited about joining Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust at such an interesting and challenging time and feel positive about the future.
“I relish this opportunity to lead the transformation of the trust and look forward to working with staff and partners to deliver integrated community and mental health services across Dorset and deliver, in partnership, care closer to home.”
He will replace Roger Browning, who is stepping down after nearly 20 years leading the trust. His decision to resign, announced in autumn, followed an operation on his heart however Mr Browning is not planning to retire.
In his resignation letter, Mr Browning said he had felt increasingly that he was “not making a sufficient difference to improving people’s lives” and planned to take on a job working more closely with patients.
