COMMERCIAL: NHS Dorset has named Virgin Care as preferred provider of medical and community services at Lyme Regis medical centre in a contract worth up to £8.5m over five years.

If the contract is finalised following due diligence, Virgin Care will be responsible for delivering primary care at the centre as well as community nursing and a range of other services.

The APMS (Alternative Provider Medical Services) contract will run for five years and also covers:

• Physiotherapy
• Podiatry
• Mental Health Care
• Minor Injury
• School Nursing
• Occupational therapy
• Counselling
• Consultant Out-Patient Clinic
• Social Worker Support
• Intermediate Care/Nursing Home Beds
• Hospital at home
