FINANCE: East and North Herts Trust had a year-to-date surplus at the end of February of just £93,000 – more than £3.2m behind plan, board papers show.

However, it is still confident of delivering a surplus of £0.5m for the year.

The February figures includes the outcome of discussions with NHS Hertfordshire on transformation money.  The trust has been affected by emergency pressures – some of which is only funded at 30 per cent of tariff – in contrast to a ‘rather lacklustre’ performance on elective care.
