PERFORMANCE: East and North Hertfordshire Trust has joined a number of trusts in reviewing their safeguarding arrangements following the Jimmy Savile scandal.
The move follows a request by the Department of Health sent to trusts in the wake of the scandal.
Savile was not thought to have visited the trust.
Board papers from the risk and quality committee said the department had requested “boards work with local agencies and review arrangements for safeguarding vulnerable people in order to ensure that these are robust”.
The papers added: “The committee heard that work had already been commenced by the deputy director of nursing and safeguarding leads to review and check arrangements, in order to be able to bring assurance to the RAQC that necessary processes and safeguards are in place.
“The committee heard that the review would include working with the Voluntary Services Manager in order to obtain assurance in respect of volunteers.”
