PERFORMANCE: East Cheshire trust is taking action to deal with a drop in its performance against the 18 week referral-to-treatment standard.
The trust has developed a plan to get back on target by the third quarter of the financial year by carrying out extra procedures over the next few months. Performance had slipped to 51.8 per cent in May with a backlog of 463 patients. Board papers say that additional sessions were stopped in November 2010 due to the financial situation and the trust did not make as much impact on waiting lists as it expected in April and May. From June, it has faced penalties of £85,000 a month for not meeting the standard.
