STRUCTURE: East Lancashire Hospitals Trust made “excellent progress” in the last month on its application for foundation trust status, according to an update report to the trust board.

A fourth draft of the trust’s Integrated Business Plan was submitted to the Provider Development Unit earlier this month.

Meanwhile a Historic Due Dilligence Readiness Review by KPMG found the trust was “well prepared for stage 2 of the assessment process with a limited number of areas that require further attention”.

KPMG has also completed a review of the trust’s self assessment against Monitor’s quality governance framework.

“The findings of this review are extremely positive for the trust, with a score of 1.5 being awarded, which allows us to move forward with our application,” says the report.
