WORKFORCE: Chairs have been appointed for the five primary care trust clusters that now commission NHS healthcare in the East of England region.
The 151 PCTs have been grouped into 50 clusters across the country. In September the Department of Health told managers that clusters should adopt a a single board model with one chair.
Professor Gurch Randhawa has been appointed as chair of NHS Bedfordshire and Luton. Professor Randhawa has been the chair of NHS Luton since early 2010.
The new chair of NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is Maureen Donnelly, who has been chair of NHS Cambridgeshire since 2006.
Chris Paveley has been appointed the chair of NHS North Essex. Mr Paveley was previously the chair of NHS North East Essex.
Sheila Childerhouse has been appointed as chair of NHS Norfolk and Great Yarmouth & Waveney. Ms Childerhouse has been chair of NHS Norfolk since 2006.
Katherine Kirk has been appointed as the chair of the South Essex PCT cluster (NHS South Essex). Ms Kirk has been chair of NHS South East Essex since 2006.

“We are fortunate to have secured a wealth of skills and experience. This will be vital in helping us to ensure the smooth transition of commissioning responsibilities from PCTs to clinical commissioning groups as well as ensuring we maintain high quality and safe services over the next 18 months.”
