STRUCTURE: East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has asked the NHS South of England cluster if it can take on a number of primary care trust properties.
In a section of the trust’s latest board papers, titled Transfer of PCT properties to ESHT, commercial director George Melling noted that trusts were to be given the opportunity to acquire parts of the PCT estate deemed “service critical infrastructure” for providing community services.
The paper stated: “He stated that the trust had applied to the strategic health authority on 31 October to take over 23 properties, 13 of which were freehold and 10 leased.
“Review panels were being established to consider the property applications in line with the Department of Health guidance.”
The acute trust took over East Sussex Community Health Services at the end of March 2011.
