WORKFORCE: Kent Community Health Trust has been judged to be one of the top 100 gay-friendly employers in the country.

The 2013 Workplace Equality Index is compiled by charity Stonewall as a tool for employers to measure their efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees.

Kent Community Health Trust was rated joint number 86 with Liverpool Community Health Trust. Last year the Kent trust was number 71 in the index.

Only four other health sector organisations made the top 100 this year. These were Nottinghamshire Healthcare Trust at number four; London Ambulance Service Trust at 22; South East Coast Ambulance Service at 35; and Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust at 58.
