WORKFORCE: Dr Paul Edmondson-Jones has been named the director of public health and wellbeing for City of York Council.

He was previously director of public health in Portsmouth, and before that was in the Army for 20 years.

An NHS North Yorkshire and York board paper says that until April - when it will be abolished - Dr Edmondson-Jones, and the public health director for York, will “jointly perform the role of cluster Director of Public Health, ensuring representation at Board meetings”.

“If a matter transpired that required input from one or both local authorities then both directors would attend,” the paper says. “In the unlikely event of the board going to vote on an issue, the DsPH would have one vote between them.”
