SERVICE DESIGN: Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust have revealed £9 million cash injection that will fund the refurbishment and improvement of hospital buildings, wards and clinics, as well as to help pay for a range of life-saving equipment.
The multi-million pound improvements, which are funded by the trust’s annual capital development programme will include a
- £1.1 million on general maintenance at St Helier, including replacing old windows and roof maintenance across the hospital buildings, which were built almost 75 years ago;
- £450,000 on general ward upgrades, including refurbishing the coronary care unit at St Helier;
- £100,000 on improving the system for piping gases (such as oxygen) to patients across Epsom;
- £250,000 creating additional single rooms for patients at both Epsom and St Helier.
