FINANCE: Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Trust, the London/Surrey borders acute, has a year-to-date deficit of £15.25m, against a target of £16.1m, according to latest board papers.

However, savings were £850,000 lower than plan at £13.3m, although the trust hopes a ban on agency staff in general wards, which started in October, will start to come through soon.

The trust revised down its deficit forecast to £14.3m after agreeing £5m in “revenue support” with the PCT cluster.
