PERFORMANCE: Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust is at 97.2 per cent on the four-hour A&E target, on-track to meet national targets.

A spokeswoman said: “We are currently meeting our A&E performance target for the fourth quarter, with 96.6 per cent (up to and including 31 January) of our patients being treated, admitted or discharged within a maximum of four hours, and are on track to exceed the 95 per cent target for the year.

“The figures used in NHS London’s recent Board papers present just a small snapshot of quarter four to date, and takes into account just one week at the beginning of January.  We would therefore argue that it does not indicate that we are ‘on course to miss the target’.
