COMMERCIAL: A hospital trust is considering a link-up with the Royal Marsden Foundation Trust for private work, board papers reveal.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals Trust also said it was having trouble expanding it private provision because of demand from NHS patients.

A report to the most recent board meeting said: “The current problem is that the trust is not able to consistently offer private patients beds to referring consultants as we have not been able to close Northey [wing, a private facility,] to NHS patients.”

The trust’s finance and investment committee said half of the beds on the wing would be “ringfenced and be available only for private patients, pending a fuller review of the private patient offering and management”.
