STRUCTURE:A leading kidney expert from Derby Hospitals, Dr Richard Fluck, practising consultant in renal medicine has been appointed as National Clinical Director for Renal Disease by the NHS Medical Director, Professor Sir Bruce Keogh.
Dr Fluck has a strong track record in combining research to drive up the quality in kidney care experienced by patients and their families, he is also the out-going Chair for the Kidney Alliance representing both professional and patient associations.
Dr Fluck said: “Moving this role into the NHS Commissioning Board affirms the importance of clinicians shaping future health care policy in England.
“Promoting effective patient centred care to improve quality of life for those affected by kidney failure is at the centre of everything we do at Derby Hospitals. Being good innovators doesn’t mean we are can sit back and be happy, there is still lots more research to explore to make it even better for the patient.”
