STRUCTURE: Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust plans to have a new emergency department and day surgery unit fully operational by 2013-14.

The aim of consolidating core services and further developing its hyper acute services is set out in the FT’s forward plan strategy for the next three years, which was submitted to Monitor in April.

The intention is to “position the trust as a major emergency centre in West Surrey and North East Hampshire”.

Enabling work on the new A&E was completed in March and the main contract started in May.

According to the plan, £3m was invested in developing the new A&E and day surgery units in 2010-11, with a further £13m this year and £5m in 2012-13.

In addition, the trust has commenced work on a second cardiac cathertisation laboratory, which it plans to have fully operational during 2012-13.
