COMMERCIAL: Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust will look to retain its £7m contract with the Ministry of Defence during the next financial year.
The aim is set out in the FT’s forward plan strategy for the next three years, which was submitted to Monitor in April.
The trust currently has a treatment contract with the MoD that runs until the end of 2012-13, with a re-tender exercise expected during the next two years that will take effect from 1 April 2013.
According to the plan, the trust is “working hard” to achieve MoD targets – for example a 10 week admitted care pathway – so that “operational delivery will put the trust in a strong position to win the tender for 2013-14 onwards”.
“Losing the MoD contract would impact both and operationally given the potential difficulty of recruiting staff to replace MOD post holders (consultants, junior doctors and nurses),” the plan warns.
