STRUCTURE: Gateshead Health Foundation Trust is moving towards a more dementia friendly environment through new signage, lighting, handrails and contrasting colours in six work areas.

Two wards, X-ray areas and rheumatology services are among the areas the trust will renovate.

The work is a continuation of a project that has already resulted in £160,000 of dementia friendly developments at outpatient facilities and a gym at Woodside Younger Persons Dementia Day Care Service.

Andrew Fletcher, service line manager for medicine at the trust, said: “The trust continues to make good progress in its work to improve the care of patients living with a diagnosis of dementia.”
