PERFORMANCE: Mortality rates are steadily falling at George Eliot Hospital Trust, the acute provider’s board papers say.

The trust’s latest quarterly standardised hospital mortality index is 1.12 for the year to June 2012 – still above the national average of 1.

This compares with the hospital standardised mortality rate of 116.7 per cent for the same period, and 112.5 per cent for the year to November. The average figure is 100.

Both indices were substantially down from 2011, when they were both more than 20 per cent over the national average.
