STRUCTURE: Maternity services at George Eliot Hospital are at risk of closure due to the condition of the building they are based in, and “plumbing issues”.

The acute trust’s risk register for October gave its maternity service a “red” risk rating, “due to the condition/age of the building and plumbing issues.”

The document said: “Funding has been approved to upgrade the existing building and carry out essential maintenance. Options are being explored for the relocation of maternity services into the main hospital building.”
