PERFORMANCE: An external review into mortality rates has been launched at George Eliot Hopsital, which has identified its persistently high death rate as “a concern”.
The trust’s quality report for November said: “Mortality figures are still high and of concern as they are well above the expected level. Additional mortality reviews are being undertaken.
“KMR1 information still displays lack of sustainability in the process or completion by medical teams,” the report says. “GTT has been undertaken on medical outliers with no main triggers identified. An external review has been commenced.”
The trust’s monthly mortality rate stood at 120 for August, the most recent figure available. This was against a target of 95.
