WORKFORCE: Great Western Hospitals Foundation Trust’s private finance initiative partner Carillion have approached the Advisory, Concillation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) to mediate in its long running dispute with hospitality staff.
The workers allege bullying and discrimination, claiming management showed favouritism over awarding holiday over the Christmas period and sought gifts in return for granting annual leave.
More than half of the 200 hospitality staff employed to work at the trust are involved in the dispute and have staged a number of walk outs.
In her report to September’s board trust director of finance and performance, Maria Moore said the GMB union had agreed to take part in talks and a date had been set.
She added: “It is hoped that this will help the dispute reach an amicable conclusion reducing any further impact on the hospital.”
